There are reports on social media that Reading FC have been hit with a winding up petition from the taxman.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire's tweeted saying HMRC has issued the order.

The financial instrument is used to recover money to pay off outstanding tax debts and can lead to companies being put into administration.

HMRC says it can't comment on individual cases.

This is the latest in a series of issues now facing Reading FC.

Not only have both the men's and women's teams been relegated, the club have also been charged by the EFL for breaching regulations over unpaid wages.

As a result several Reading FC fans groups have come together to launch a campaign calling for the owner Mr Dai to sell the club.

The campaign group have called themselves 'Sell before we Dai' and over 3,000 people have now signed up.
