Reading could get more testing sites, a public health consultant has revealed, after the town’s first testing centre opened last month.

A walk-in testing centre opened at the University of Reading’s London campus on October 24, while a mobile testing unit regularly stops at Prospect Park.

Prior to the opening of the UoR site, there was no testing centre in Reading other than irregular mobile testing units, with the closest at Newbury Showground and unaccesible by foot.

Future permanent sites are being looked at, according to David Munday, Reading Borough Council’s (RBC) public health consultant.

He said: “We are looking at establishing future sites in Reading and are liaising with the Department for Health.”

The next dates for the mobile testing unit at Prospect Park are November 6, 11 and 20.

The UoR site is open seven days a week and available to all.
