Police in Reading hunt carjackers

A woman is pulled from her car at traffic lights in one of two incidents

Police in Reading are appealing for witnesses to two linked incidents of carjacking - one of them successful and the other a failed attempt.

The successful incident occurred around 1.50am on Saturday (29/10) at Cemetery Junction.

The victim, a woman in her thirties, was driving her car when she stopped at the traffic lights.

Three men approached the vehicle and pulled the victim from her car, got into the car and have then driven it away.

The vehicle was found ten minutes later, and had been crashed.

Descriptions

The first offender is described as around 5ft 11in tall and slim. He was wearing a green coat, grey trousers with a black stripe, and white shoes.

The second offender is also described as around 5ft 11in tall and slim. He was wearing all black clothing, including a coat, tracksuit bottoms and shoes. He was also wearing a blue or black cap and a white snood covering his face.

The third offender is described as around 5ft 11in tall and of large build. He was wearing a black jumper, blue coat, green bottoms and white shoes. He was also wearing a black snood covering his face.

Police believe this may be linked to another incident that happened in Junction Road.

Between 1.30am and 1.55am on Saturday (29/10), the victims, a man in his twenties and three females, pulled their car onto a driveway in Junction Road when a group of men approached the vehicle.

One of the offenders appeared to have a firearm and attempted to gain access to the vehicle.

The victims drove away.

Investigating officer PC Brandon Morley, based at Reading police station, said:

*We are carrying out a thorough investigation into what happened.

“We would like to appeal to anybody who may have witnessed this incident to please get in touch.
