Reading Buses and The Royal Berks Charity are jointly celebrating after officially unveiling the amount of money raised in 2023 as part of their charity partnership.

They also formally announced the extension of their partnership for a further year and marked the occasion by revealing a new fully branded charity bus.

At a recent special event at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, attended by Reading Buses employees, NHS workers and representatives from the charity, they celebrated the extended partnership, the branded bus and the year one total raised of ÂŁ11,739.

Robert Williams, Reading Buses Chief Executive Officer, said:

“It is my absolute pleasure to announce the amount raised in 2023 and that we are extending our partnership for a second year. It is unusual for us to select a charity for a second year, demonstrating the really valuable work that The Royal Berks Charity does.

“We hope that all we learned last year helps to make this year even better. We are also extremely delighted to unveil a newly branded Royal Berks Charity bus which is one of our spare double decker buses that will run on every route around Reading and the local area. We hope that it will help to raise awareness of the charity and their good work and prompt many more donations!”

The newly branded Royal Berks Charity bus has already graced the roads of Reading and the design includes a handy text number that people can donate via their mobile phone providers - customers can text 5BUS to 70085 to donate ÂŁ5.

Jo Warrior, Charity Director, Royal Berks Charity, said:

“We were absolutely blown away by the huge success of our partnership with Reading Buses and we look forward to continuing this relationship into 2024.

“This donation really will make a huge impact to local NHS services within Berkshire and South Oxfordshire.”

Royal Berks Charity supports the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust supporting seven hospital sites across Berkshire and South Oxfordshire. The charity funds new projects in a way that government funding wouldn’t allow. From purchasing the latest cutting-edge equipment to helping ensure NHS staff receive the support they need to do the best job possible. All the money raised by Reading Buses goes towards these amazing efforts to help the hospital, NHS staff and, of course, the patients.
