Reading FC boss lashes out at EFL over points punishment
He accuses EFL of contradictory messages and says they're punishing the wrong people
Reading FC manager Ruben Selles says he's "disappointed" by the EFL after the club was deducted two points this week for late payment of tax.
Looking visibly angry he accused them of punishing the wrong people and said he "expected more from them".
"They (the EFL} are punishing the workers from the club the players the fans the city, it puts everyone one of us in a worse position even the club in a worse position when it is clear we are not the ones that made that fault, so I think I expected more from them."
And the Reading manager said he was confused by the EFL stance on Reading coming just a few weeks after they publicly came out on the side of fans blaming all the financial issues on the owner.
"I think we have been hearing some contradictions in the message I don't really understand why they (the EFL) keep pushing those things (point deductions) knowing that nothing is going to happen and I don't understand how I get punished and my boys get punished so I don't know what exactly they are expecting which kind of reaction they are expecting and I am disappointed with the minus two point deduction."
Reading fans have also been scathing about the EFL after the points deduction with many taking to social media to express their frustration.
The Reading manager added that he had been told that wages would be paid on time this month.
