Police are appealing for witnesses after the driver of a car failed to stop for officers in Newbury on Tuesday.

Officers attempted to stop a 2014-plate black Vauxhall Astra on Fir Tree Lane around 12.40pm.

However, the driver failed to stop, instead escaping from officers, colliding with a police vehicle and a parked car in the process.

After leaving the scene, the driver of the car drove the wrong way down a one way street.

Officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the vehicle around this time in Newbury or who may have dash cam footage of the Astra.

Investigating officer PC Joe Gawronski said:

"We want to speak to anyone who has seen this vehicle driving in and around Newbury yesterday.

"If you have a dash cam in your car, please can I ask you check it. Particularly if you drove along Fir Tree Lane, Gaywood Drive, Leonardslee Crescent, A4 London Road, Hambridge Road, Boundary Road or Queens Road.

"We also want to speak with the driver of a parked red Audi in Fir Tree Lane, which was damaged as the Astra made off.

"Anyone with information should call 101, quoting the reference 43210155414."
