Police horses patrol Windsor ahead of Trump state visit
Thames Valley Police’s Mounted Section will be on patrol in Windsor to support security during the visit of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
Thames Valley Police's Mounted Section will be out in Windsor this weekend to support the wider policing operation for the state visit of U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
The mounted officers and their horses will be visible in the town centre and nearby areas, helping keep people safe and engaging with the public. Residents and visitors are encouraged to say hello and meet the horses when they see them.
Sergeant Heidi Cornick, who leads the unit, said the horses are not only great for connecting with the public but are also trained for busy and noisy environments. “They’re a valuable operational asset,” she said.
The team includes:
Viktor, a 12-year-old Irish Draught who loves cuddles.
Harper, a calm 12-year-old Percheron who leads the group and has worked many high-profile events.
Morpheus, a playful 6-year-old Shire horse with a cheeky personality.
The mounted unit often supports events like the Changing of the Guard and plays an important role in keeping Windsor safe during major events. Police say both visible and behind-the-scenes tactics are being used to protect the public during the visit.
