Police bring in stop and search order after robbery in Reading

Police have been given extra powers to stop and search people in part of Reading after a man was threatened with a knife and robbed.
It happened in the Dulnan Close area of Tilehurst at approximately 7:30pm last night (5/12).
Its understood the victim, and 18 year old man, was threatened with a blade by three men.
He wasn't injured. No arrests have yet been made.
As a result of the incident Thames Valley Police have brought in a Section 60 order, which gives officers extra powers to stop people and carry out seatches.
It'll be in place under 8:10pm tonight and includes the area between the River Thames, the A4155 IDR, the A4 junction with Old Bath Road and Langley Hill. Its western boundary is Langley Hill, Park Lane and Kentwood Hill.
Inspector Craig Burchall, of Thames Valley Police, said: “We’re appealing for witnesses following this concerning incident."
“Details are limited at the moment, and we are investigating to establish the exact circumstances, but if you have any information which you think could be relevant to our investigation, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please contact Thames Valley Police."
"I understand that this incident as well as the Section 60 order may cause some concern in the community.
"However, I would like to reassure people that we are carrying out a full investigation, and that the Section 60 order is an important part of this.
“It is designed to help our investigation, as well as prevent further violence from occurring. It is in place for 24 hours but may be extended further if necessary."
Dulnan Close was the scene of a murder earlier this year.
