Police officers attacked in Crowthorne

They were injured while responding to reports of a woman being assaulted

A man has charged with multiple offences in connection with a series of incidents in Crowthorne.

40-year-old Stephen Adby from Crowthorne, was charged with a count of assault by beating, a count of criminal damage, two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker, one count of driving when alcohol level was above the limit, one count of driving while disqualified, one count of taking a motor vehicle without the owners’ consent and one count of driving with no insurance.

The charges are in connection with incidents on Wednesday (5/1).

During the incident, two police officers responding to the initial report of a member of the public being assaulted were themselves assaulted, sustaining head injuries.

One of the officers required hospital treatment and has since been discharged.
