A man has been handed a 13 month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to an incident of false imprisonment in Reading.

It comes after a Thames Valley Police investigation where 39-year-old Brian Ncube of Stokingway Close, Plymouth, pleaded guilty to one count of false imprisonment and one count of ABH at Reading Crown Court last Friday (April 28).

He was also given a three-year restraining order preventing direct or indirect contact with the victim, 200 hours of unpaid work and a year on an alcohol monitoring program.

On 10 October 2021, Ncube put the victim in his car, preventing her from leaving. Ncube then drove from Whitley Wood Road to Shinfield Road with the victim trying to leave the vehicle a number of times.

Ncube was charged on 13 February 2022.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Benjamin Rimmer, said: “This was a harrowing ordeal for the victim, and I would like to acknowledge the strength and courage of the victim throughout this investigation.

“I’m glad that Ncube has pleaded guilty to the incidents, due to the strong case that was built against him.”
