Pedestrian injured in collision near Reading

A van driver from Basildon has been arrested following the incident

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Burghfield, in which a 25-year-old female pedestrian was injured.

At approximately 11.50pm on Saturday (25/9), the woman was walking in Hollybush Lane at the junction with Reading Road, Burghfield, when she was in collision with a white Ford Transit van.

The woman sustained a fractured skull, broken cheek bone and a split eyebrow, plus grazes to her left leg.

She was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for treatment, but has since been discharged.

A 31-year-old man from Basildon, Essex, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, drug driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

He has since been released under investigation.

Investigating officer PC Jamie Payne of the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing based at Three Mile Cross, said:

“I am appealing to anybody who witnessed this collision or who was driving in the area and has dash-cam footage of the collision to please get in touch with us.
