Woman pedestrian seriously injured in road collision in Reading

The 20-year-old suffered a serious head injury on the Kings Road

Thames Valley Police is appealing for footage and witnesses, following a serious injury road traffic collision in Reading.

The collision occurred in Kings Road at about 11am today (12/5).

A taxi, travelling in the direction of Reading town centre, was in collision with a pedestrian.

The cause of the collision is currently unknown, and is subject to an investigation.

The pedestrian, a 20-year-old woman, has been taken to hospital with head injuries. She is in a serious condition.

Inspector Sarah Bartlett, of the Roads Policing Unit, said:

“I am appealing to members of the public and business owners to check if they have any footage of the collision, whether from dashcam, doorbell, mobile phones or CCTV. If you have any footage then please contact Thames Valley Police as soon as possible by visiting our website or calling 101, quoting reference number 43220205002.

“If you witnessed the collision, we would also be grateful if you could contact the force as soon as possible please.

“The Kings Road near Reading College is currently closed in both directions while emergency services are at the scene.

“Diversions are in place and we would advise motorists to find alternative routes at this time.

“I would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation while we are at the scene of this collision.”
