As restrictions remain in place for a further four weeks Newbury racecourse will keep their capacity capped at 4,000 people throughout June & July.

Crowds were initially welcomed back last Thursday (17 June) with the second race tonight now renamed (Re)Locked Racenight.

Harriet Collins, Marketing Director said:

“It’s not the news we were hoping for but it was to be expected. Our next six race meetings will remain at a capacity of 4,000 and we would encourage anyone thinking about attending to book as soon as possible and there is plenty of demand. For anyone concerned about a future booking which may be affected, we will be contacting everyone in the coming days to update them with Saturday 17 July being the fixture which will be impacted by this delay.

“We welcomed back crowds for the first-time last Thursday and it was particularly warming to hear the buzz of spectators welcoming the winners back into the winners enclosure and there was lovely atmosphere around the site which we have so missed. The team have worked hard to ensure racegoers and staff feel safe at the course and given the ample amount of space we have on offer, we are confident that people can come and enjoy the live action and feel safe. We’ve got a busy calendar of racing fixtures and events coming up over the next month including the return of our popular Gin Thursday’s evening fixtures and our popular Pub in the Paddock where we will be showing an array of sport on big Saturday’s.”

Following the last race tonight, due off at 8.05pm, the big parade ring screen will switch over to the England Vs Czech Republic game with plenty of socially distanced seating and outdoor bars available across the site.

Due to restrictions remaining in place, people are being advised to book tickets early to avoid disappointment.
