A man from Newbury has been jailed for drug offences.

22-year-old Chai Huszarik of Newtown Road, was sentenced to two years and seven months’ imprisonment at Reading Crown Court.

Huszarik pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, namely cocaine and one count of possession of criminal property on 7 September 2021.

At around 3.45pm on 5 April 2020, Huszarik was seen making an exchange on the canal footpath behind Tesco on London Road.

Following a search, officers found cash and a phone in Huszarik’s possession. A search on the phone showed that Huszarik had given cocaine to a third party in exchange for cash.

PC Joe Gawronski, of the Stronghold team based at Newbury police station, said:

“Some may consider supply of cocaine to be a quick and easy way to make money however Thames Valley Police will actively seek out those supplying cocaine in West Berkshire and bring them to justice.

“In this case the sentence reflects the crime.

“We continue to need the support of the public in this, and we would ask them to report any information that they have about drug dealing.

“This can be shared with Thames Valley Police on our website or by calling 101.

“You can also report information anonymously by calling independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
