Work starts today on a new roundabout on the A287 Farnham Road/Redfields Lane junction near Church Crookham.

It is part of the planning obligations for Albany Park, a new residential development in the area.

The A287 will stay open to two-way traffic while work is being carried out, however a reduced speed limit of 30mph is being introduced.

Redfields Lane and Bowling Alley will be closed to through-traffic for the duration of the project.

Diversions are in place:

Redfields Lane – a diversion will be put in place via B3013 (Beacon Hill Road), Sandy Lane, Aldershot Road then back to the northern end of Redfields Lane.

Bowling Alley – road users will directed to use the junction near the Bowernhurst Kennels to gain access to/from the A287.

The road improvement works are due to be completed by Autumn next year.

The project is being delivered by developer Martin Grant Homes, as part of the planning obligations attached to the planning permission for Albany Park.

Chris Hamilton, Managing Director at Martin Grant Homes, explains: “Our contractor Buxted Construction is overseeing the delivery of the project. All associated road closures, diversion plans and speed restrictions on the A287 are necessary to maintain safe travel for all road users, and to ensure the safety of our workforce.

“Safety is our number one priority throughout delivery of this major construction project, and we are working closely with Hampshire Highways at Hampshire County Council, who will continue to oversee the programme for its duration.”

“All roadworks and temporary traffic management systems will be clearly signposted in advance of work starting to ensure road users are aware of how the changes might affect their journeys.

"We will continue to keep local people updated as work on this vital road improvement project progresses, providing advance notice of any further changes that may affect them”.

A website dedicated to providing information about the A287 Farnham Road Improvements Project can be found at www.A287roundabout.co.uk, with a map showing the above diversion routes available to view in the ‘Key documents and downloads’ section.

The website will continue to be updated as the project progresses to provide details about the works being carried out and any temporary traffic management measures needed.
