The new season kit is bound to be more popular than usual as the club celebrates its 150th Anniversary

Reading Football Club has unveiled its 150th Anniversary season kit.
The Club say the inspiration was easy with the design based on the first ever Reading kit:
"Nearly 150 years ago this club first played competitive football and the players took to the field wearing thin blue and white hoops, white shorts and hooped socks. In our anniversary season, we will pay homage to our 19th century beginnings with a design based on the first ever kit worn by those who first represented Reading.
"There are a few less moustaches in 2021 and the colour of the boots has changed for many of the players. But to honour those who first lined up for Reading Football Club, our hoops are thinner and our socks are hooped."
Some of the names of former players who have been inducted into the Supporters Trust’s Hall of Fame have been sublimated into the blue hoops, front and back. The club say it's a 'tip of the cap' to the generations of players who have 'bled' blue and white ever since those 1871 beginnings.
The crest is woven in gold, while ‘1871-2021, 150 YEARS’ is written on the back of the home shirt and on the calf of the home socks.
The official goalkeeper kit for 2021-22 is modelled on a classic strip worn by one of the club's goalkeeping greats…Steve Death.
Death was a mainstay in the Reading first team during the entirety of the 1970s, once breaking a Royals record at one stage in making 156 consecutive appearances for the club. He also helped Reading set another record, refusing to concede a goal for 1,074 minutes of competitive football in 1978-79.
The goalkeeper’s shirt has a retro look and feel, green in colour with a ribbed collar and ‘1871-2021, 150 YEARS’ again embroidered in the back of the shirt.
