Murder investigation launched in Reading
It's after the body of a missing person from the town was discovered in London
A murder investigation has started as a result of an ongoing missing person investigation.
Yesterday (15/9), the body of a person was discovered in Erith in London.
A missing person investigation had been launched by Thames Valley Police on 24 August following a report that a person had gone missing from the Reading area.
The person’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, Police are not identifying the person.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Blaik, of the Major Crime Unit, said:
“We have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body of a person in London.
“My thoughts remain with the man’s family at this extremely difficult time.
“The investigation is in its early stages and we are conducting thorough enquiries in order to establish what has happened.
“There is a scene watch currently in place in Hadrians Walk in Reading and so you may see an increased police presence in the local area whilst our enquiries continue.
