A 31 year old man formerly of Rowe Court in Reading has been charged with murder and arson with intent to endanger life.

Hakeem Kigundo will appear before Reading magistrates court on Saturday.

It follows a fire at Rowe court on Wednesday in which one person died.

Two people from the block of flats remain missing and their next of kin are being supported by specially trained officers.

Currently recovery work is being slowed up by the dangerous state of the building, work to make the structure safe enough to enter will take several days.

Today equipment including fences were delivered to Rowe Court. Yesterday cars surrounding the block of flats were removed by recovery trucks.

24 flats were affected by the fire and Reading Borough Council has given emergency accommodation to seven people.
