There was a flurry of social media excitement on Sunday as two helicopters belonging to Mike Ashley's Frasers Group landed in the car park at Reading FC's SCL stadium.

Such a high profile intervention inevitably created speculation that the former Newcastle United owner might be interested in buying the club.

He owned Newcastle between 2007 and 2021 eventually selling the club to the Saudi Arabia Public investment fund.

On Sunday fans watched several close aides of the millionaire businessman enter the ground along with Reading's director of football operations Mark Bowen.

Even the owner of Bracknell Town FC had his say!

The helicopters stayed on the ground for several hours before taking off at lunchtime with one heading towards the Midlands and the other in the direction of Sussex.
