Met Office warning of heavy rain and strong wind for parts of North Hampshire

A yellow warning for heavy rain has been issued covering parts of North Hampshire including Alton and near Fleet.

The alert goes up at 1pm on Saturday (2 October) and lasts through to 10pm the same day.

Some areas could get rain of up to 40mm falling in 3-6 hours.

The warning includes strong winds with gusts likely to reach up to 55 miles per hour.

The Met Office says: "A spell of strong southerly winds is expected to affect some southern and eastern parts of England during Saturday afternoon and into the evening.

"Gusts are likely to reach 45-55 mph inland with 65 mph possible along exposed coasts.

"Heavy rain will be an additional hazard, with as much as 30-40 mm of rain falling in 3-6 hours in some parts of south and south-east England."

The Met Office says it could affect travel with some delays on the roads and trains, as well as to ferry transport.

Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
