Two men jailed for drug offences in Reading

Police have thanked the public for their help in catching dealers

Two men have been sentenced for drug offences in Reading.

Mohammed Mir, aged 44, of Linden Avenue, Bradford, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, namely heroin and cocaine in a hearing at Reading Crown Court on 17 December 2021.

Waseem Khan, aged 33, of Snowden Road, Bradford pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, namely heroin and cocaine at Reading Crown Court on 3 August this year.

At the same court, Mir was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and Khan was sentenced to three years and seven months’ imprisonment.

The incident

At around 7pm on 28 June 2021 officers stopped a car in Jubilee Square, Reading under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Mir was searched and two phones and over ÂŁ100 in cash was located in his possession. Messages on one phone had 44 mass marketing messages advertising the sale of class A drugs.

Khan was in possession of an iPhone and ÂŁ630 in cash.

A vehicle search was also conducted and 70 wraps of crack and 122 wraps of heroin with an approximate street value of ÂŁ1900 was recovered concealed in the nearside front passenger air vent.

Investigating officer PC James Dunwell, part of the Stronghold team based at Reading, said:

“I am pleased to see that this conviction has resulted in a substantial prison sentence. I hope Mir and Khan can use this time to consider their actions.
