Man released under investigation over Thatcham rape
Police say they are continuing to follow several lines of enquiry

A man has been released under investigation after his arrest in connection with a rape investigation in Thatcham.
It follows the incident at around midnight on 16 August, when a woman was raped in a layby on the A4 close to Cox’s Lane.
Thames Valley Police say they are continuing to follow several lines of enquiry.
Investigating officer Detective Inspector Alice Broad, said: “Our investigation is ongoing , we continue to follow multiple lines of enquiry, and the victim continues to be supported by specially trained officers.
“Following interviews of the man arrested and having completed a significant number lines of enquiry around this individual, he has now been released under investigation.
“We continue to follow a number of other lines of enquiry in relation to this very concerning incident and that work will continue at pace.
“We are aware that concerns within the community may once again be heightened, as such patrols of the local area and along main trunk roads within Berkshire have been ongoing throughout our investigation and will continue to provide reassurance to the public.
“In this case we believe that the victim stopped her vehicle in the layby because she saw a child’s car seat and was concerned there might be a child at risk because the car seat was empty and she was then attacked.
“In light of this we would urge members of the public to remain cautious when they spot anything similar that is left in an unusual place and not to approach themselves, but instead report it to Thames Valley Police on 101 so that we can take appropriate action.
“We also continue to appeal for anyone with any information relating to this incident to come forward if they haven’t done so already.
