A 44-year-old man has been sentenced to six months in prison following an investigation by Thames Valley Police into theft and weapon offences in Maidenhead.

Shane Lee Nicholls, of Lesters Road, Cookham, was jailed at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 13 November, after pleading guilty to multiple offences.

The investigation began on Wednesday, 12 November, when Thames Valley Police received a report from a victim who had items stolen from their vehicle overnight. These included a laptop, mouse, tablet, and headphones.

Sergeant Luke Jenkins and Inspector Natasha Gidda from the Windsor and Maidenhead Neighbourhood Policing Team were on foot patrol in Maidenhead town centre when they conducted a stop and search on two men.

During the search, officers found a carrier bag containing items matching the description provided by the victim, including business cards belonging to the victim.

Police contacted the owner of the business cards to confirm the stolen property and promptly returned the items to the victim.

Nicholls was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and possession of a bladed article. He was also overdue for an interview regarding a burglary in October last year, where CCTV footage showed a man entering the rear entrance of Sainsbury's and stealing food.

Nicholls was charged and remanded on all three offences.
