Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man has been jailed for shoplifting offences in Reading.

Ryan Mikosz, aged 29, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to 34 weeks in prison after he pleaded guilty to 29 counts of shoplifting in a hearing at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (29/2).

Between 19 January and 23 February, Mikosz entered businesses in Tilehurst and stole a quantity of food and household goods. He was arrested and charged on Wednesday (28/2).

Investigating officer, PC Vince Moore, of the neighbourhood policing team for Reading, said: “As part of Operation Purchase, The Reading Neighbourhood policing team have worked tirelessly to secure the conviction of one of our most prolific shoplifters.

“Over a four week period, Mikosz has targeted various stores in Tilehurst on a near daily basis. During this time he has stolen over £1500 worth of goods.

“The Reading Neighbourhood policing team will continue to work in partnership with our local retailers, to reduce retail crime and bring offenders to justice.

“I hope this conviction will send a message to others who feel it’s acceptable to take what is not theirs to reconsider their actions, you will be apprehended, charge you and put you before the courts to face justice."
