A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment following an attempted murder in Reading.

Rashane Odle-Mcleod, from Winnersh, received a minimum term of 17 years and four months on 15th December 2025 at Reading Crown Court after being found guilty of attempted murder.

On 9th April, Odle-Mcleod went to the Kennet Walk estate in Reading armed with a knife, intending to carry out a targeted attack.

After spending hours waiting, he attacked his victim—a man in his twenties—in a dark alley, stabbing him more than a dozen times and continuing even as the man lay on the ground.

After the attack, he rifled through the victim’s pockets and stole his mobile phone before fleeing. The victim was given emergency first aid at the scene and later discharged from the hospital. He is now living with life-changing injuries.

Odle-Mcleod was arrested on 13th April and charged three days later. He was also convicted of possessing a knife in a public place, but acquitted of perverting the course of justice.

Detective Constable Michael Hope from Thames Valley Police addressed the seriousness of the attack, saying, "This sentence reflects the appalling violence inflicted on the victim and the impact it will have on him for the rest of his life.

"Odle-Mcleod carried out a targeted and relentless attack in April and I hope this result offers the victim some justice at what is a really difficult time."
