Man from Cornwall arrested over fatal crash in West Berkshire village

A motorcyclist aged in his late teens died from injuries suffered in Great Shefford last night

A 19 year old man from Cornwall has been arrested over the death of a teenage motorcyclist in West Berkshire.

A silver Ford Ecosport and a Suzuki motorcycle collided in the village of Great Shefford at around 6.53pm last night (Friday 15th August 2025).

Detectives want to hear from witnesses who saw what happened on the B4000 Ermin Street at the junction with A338.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said:

"The Ford had been travelling eastbound and the Suzuki had been traveling westbound.

"Sadly, the rider of the Suzuki motorcycle – a man in his late teens - died at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers.

"A 19-year-old man from Cornwall has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving, driving while over the prescribed limit for alcohol, driving while over a specified drug limit, driving while unfit through drink or drugs and suspicion of causing death by careless driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

"He remains in custody at this time."

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Robert Chevalier said:

“Firstly, I want to offer my deepest condolences to the family of the man who sadly died in this collision.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this to please get in touch.

“I am also appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to please check their dash cam footage, in case they captured the collision or the moments leading up to it.
