Man found guilty of murdering 'caring and loving dad' in Andover
35 year old Sean Ember was stabbed to death in November 2024
A man has been found guilty of murder following a fatal stabbing in Andover last year.
35 year old Sean Ember was found with stab wounds to his neck and chest on the kitchen flood of an address on Arcaro Road on the 19th of November 2024.
Following an investigation by Hampshire Police 42 year old Justin George Griffith was charged with murder.
A jury at Winchester Crown Court heard that Griffith stabbed Sean before staging an intrusion to cover up the crime.
Griffith told ambulance call-handlers that there may be someone still in the garden, delaying lifesaving care from getting to Sean.
When police arrived, he again said that someone had broken in and stabbed Sean. Officers found the rear door to be locked and secured from the inside.
Griffith, formerly of Milton Road in Southsea, denied the murder and the case went to trial on Tuesday 6 May.
Today (20 June), after deliberating for almost 13 hours, the jury found him guilty.
Griffith has been remanded into custody. A date for sentencing has not yet been fixed.
Detective Inspector Howard Broadribb, senior investigator for the case, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Sean Ember who was tragically killed by Griffith.
“Today’s verdict is a reflection of the commitment of a large number of police officers and staff who worked tirelessly to investigate this incident and bring a case to the Crown Prosecution Service. The collective efforts of all involved in seeking justice for Sean and his family have now resulted in the man responsible for his murder being convicted.”
Sean’s family paid the following tribute to him back in December:
“Sean was a caring, thoughtful and loving person. His intelligence, sense of humour and charm made him the endearing character that meant so much to everyone.
“Sean will be deeply missed by all of those whose heart he touched. A loved son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and a friend to so many.
