Thames Valley Police are investigating an unexplained death after discovering the body of a man in Reading.

They found him after being called to Abbey Street at around 11:30pm on Sunday night (27 June).

Officers say they believe another man may have been with him earlier that evening - and are asking that person to come forward.

The dead man has not yet been formally identified - neither has his next of kin been found.

Thames Valley Police say they do not believe it to be suspicious but are investigating the circumstances.

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Rich Jarvis, based at Reading police station, said: "Currently we are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish how the man died, however at this time we do not believe it to be suspicious.

"I am appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Abbey Street last night to please get in touch.

"From initial enquiries, we believe another man may have been with the deceased man earlier that evening and so may be able to help with our investigation. If you know who this is or believe that it is you, I would also ask that you please come forward.

"Anyone with information can contact Thames Valley Police calling 101 or making a report online, quoting reference 43210283663.
