Police appeal for witnesses after a man is attacked in Reading
Police say the victim suffered head and neck injuries
Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault occasioning GBH in Reading.
At around 10.10pm on Friday (28/1), a man got out of the passenger seat of a white van and approached a man in his thirties who was coming out of Nando’s at Gateway Retail on Imperial Way.
The white van then drove off and the man assaulted the victim with a bladed article, thought to be a knife, before running off.
It is thought the attacker then re-entered the white van, which had black roof bars.
The victim suffered cuts to the face and head and was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital for further treatment – he has since been discharged.
The attacker is described as quite tall and wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark top.
Investigating officer Detective Grace Dooey, based at Reading police station, said:
“This assault happened in the evening and CCTV shows several witnesses walking past.
“I am confident that someone will have witnessed what happened so I am appealing to anybody who saw this to get in touch with police.
“I would be particularly keen to hear from anybody who was driving in the area or parked in the carpark and may have dash-cam footage, or who witnessed the offender getting into or out of the white van.
