Thames Valley Police have released CCTV images and are appealing for witnesses in connection with a robbery investigation at Sonning near Reading.

Between 10pm and 10.10pm on Friday (2/12), the victims, both aged in their sixties, were at home in a property in Sonning Meadows when they became alerted to intruders after seeing a sensor light come on.

Three men walked into the kitchen, wearing dark clothing and balaclavas. All three offenders are believed to be white.

The first offender spoke with what is believed to be an eastern European accent.

Offenders two and three are both believed to be English, with one of them possibly aged in his teens.

Offenders one and two demanded to know where the safe was, and the victim’s husband was then punched in the jaw, causing him to fall to the floor.

He was then kicked to his torso and back.

An amount of foreign currency and travel documents were stolen in the burglary.

It is believed that the offenders left via the garden and out of the cul-de-sac.

The male victim suffered a fractured cheekbone and eye socket, which required hospital treatment, and he remains in hospital at this time.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Siobhan Walford said:

“This was a very frightening ordeal for both victims, and the male victim remains in hospital after suffering facial injuries.

“I am releasing some CCTV images of people who we believe may have information about the incident. Although these images are not clear, it does show clothing being worn, and so if you think you may know who these people are, please contact Thames Valley Police.

“I am also appealing to anybody who may have been in the area at around the time of the incident to contact Thames Valley Police if you believe you witnessed any suspicious activity.
