Man arrested on suspicion of murder in Andover
He was later detained under the mental health act.
Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after a woman was found dead and another seriously injured in Andover.
Statement
A Police spokesperson said:
"We were called at 8:26am on Saturday 8 March to reports of a serious assault at an address on Burkal Drive in Andover.
"Emergency services attended and found the body of woman in her 60s, who was confirmed deceased at the scene.
"The woman’s next of kin have been informed.
"A second woman in her 60s was also found with serious, possibly life-changing, injuries and was taken to hospital by the ambulance service.
"An investigation has been launched and a 31-year-old man from Andover has been arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and possessing a controlled drug of Class B - Cannabis.
"He was technically released under investigation and then detained under the Mental Health Act.
"A 61-year-old man from Andover has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has been released on police bail until Sunday 8 June, pending further enquiries.
"Our investigation continues and officers will be in the area today to carry out further enquiries.
"While our enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing, this is being treated as an isolated incident with no wider risk to the community identified."
