Man arrested on suspicion of arson in Basingstoke

Officers investigating reports of a fire inside a Basingstoke building have made an arrest.

We were called to reports of a small fire within a communal area inside a block of flats on Carter Drive on Friday 19 September.

The fire was quickly put out by residents, and no one was injured during the incident.

Officers launched an investigation and made an arrest later that day.

A 36-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.

He has been bailed with conditions to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.
