A woman from Maidenhead has admitted the manslaughter of her four-year-old son.

37-year-old Akanksha Adivarekar, from Dunholme End in Maidenhead, pleaded guilty to killing Agustya Hegishte on 10 June.

Agustya was pronounced dead at the scene after Police were called to an address in Dunholme End.

Adivarekar was originally charged with murder, but a plea to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility was accepted by the prosecution today.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Rob Underhill, of Thames valley Police Major Crime Unit, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts remain with Agustya’s family following what has been a truly devastating loss.

“We hope this outcome provides the family with some sense of closure and the space and privacy they need to grieve.”

Adivarekar will be sentenced at Reading Crown Court next week.
