Maidenhead MP Joshua Reynolds has written to the Environment Agency this week asking for an urgent meeting regarding the closure of Temple Bridge in Hurley.

In recent communications from the Environment Agency to the local MP, the agency confirmed that the bridge, closed in May 2023, is due to be investigated by specialist contractor in September this year.

With no current timescale to secure government funding for the project, let alone start repair work on the almost 40-year-old structure, many residents have expressed concern that the bridge will be closed for many more years.

Disruption

Joshua said: “With the bridge having been closed since May 2023, and already having caused significant disruption to residents in the local area who now must complete 4.1-mile-long diversion route to get to the other side of the bridge. I’m concerned that the investigations are not beginning until September and the extended period that any repairs will take after that.”
