A woman from Maidenhead has been sentenced for the manslaughter of her 4-year-old son.

37-year-old Akanksha Adivarekar of Dunholme End was sentenced to a hospital order with restrictions under the mental health act at Reading Crown Court.

Adivarekar pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility at the same court on Wednesday 3 December.

At around 6.30pm on Tuesday 10 June, this year, Police were called to an address in Dunholme End where they found the victim, four-year-old Agustya Hegishte. He'd been stabbed to death.

Reading crown court heard that doctors had agreed she'd been suffering from bipolar disorder at the time of the killing.

Devastating

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Rob Underhill of the Major Crime Unit, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts remain with Agustya’s family following what has been a truly devastating loss.

“Today’s sentencing brings a complex and challenging investigation to its conclusion and reflects the dedication of our officers and staff in establishing the full circumstances of that day.

“We hope this outcome provides the family with some sense of closure and the space and privacy they need to grieve.”
