A serious crash between a lorry and a car has closed the M4 eastbound between junction 14 for Hungerford Newtown and junction 13 for Newbury.

The collision happened earlier today, and emergency services and National Highways officers remain at the scene.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: “The M4 remains closed eastbound between J14 and J13 following a serious collision. There are delays of 50 minutes above normal journey times eastbound.”

Westbound traffic was also affected for a time, with lane 3 closed. That closure has now been lifted and all westbound lanes are open. However, drivers are still facing delays of up to 30 minutes.

Motorists have been advised to follow diversion routes and allow extra travel time if passing through the area this afternoon.

For further updates, National Highways is directing people to its website.
