The leader of Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council steps down

Ken Rhatigan the leader of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is stepping down ith immediate effect.

Mr Rhatigan said it was for personal reasons.

His deputy Simon Bound has taken temporary charge and has issued a statement saying ‘clearly it is time for a change of direction’.

Mr Rhatigan who is councillor for Kingsclere says he intends to stay on the council.
