Man threatened with knife during attempted robbery in Reading

Police look for four teenagers

Police are appealing for help after a man was threatened with a knife during an attempted robbery in Reading.

Some time between 9.15pm and 9.45pm on Tuesday (15/6), the victim, a man in his twenties, was with another man in his twenties on Erleigh Road when they were approached by a group of four teenage boys.

One of the boys grabbed the victim and held a knife to his stomach whilst shouting at him. The victim broke away and ran into the Co-Op on Erleigh Road to call the police. The four boys ran from the scene.

The victim was not injured and nothing was stolen.

The boy with the knife who grabbed the victim is described as being South Asian, around 16-years-old and around 5ft 8in tall. He was wearing a grey tracksuit with the hood up and a face covering.

The other boys were also South Asian and around the same age.

Staff investigator Zoe Purnell, based at Reading police station said:

“I am appealing for any witnesses of this incident, or anyone who saw the boy matching the description in the area at the time, to please get in touch.
