Body found at house fire scene in Kingsclere

A Police and Fire investigation has started

Its been confirmed a body was found at the scene of a fire at Kingsclere in north-west Hampshire earlier this week.

Around thirty firefighters from Hampshire and Berkshire spent five hours fighting the fire at a semi-detached house in King John Road on Tuesday.

Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service said in a statement:

"Hampshire and Berkshire firefighters were called to a house fire in Kingsclere on Tuesday (15 Feb) morning at 11:15.

"Firefighters from Kingsclere, Basingstoke, Tadley, Fleet, Whitchurch and Sutton Scotney were assisted by RBFRS crews from Newbury.

"Smoke was issuing from the property which was well alight upon arrival.

"The body was found inside the address and they were confirmed dead at the scene.

"The fire was extinguished using eight sets of breathing apparatus, three jets and two hose reels, with the aerial ladder platform also utilised to contain the blaze to the two-storey property."

A joint police and fire investigation will now take place to establish the cause of the fire.
