Police reveal Henley Royal Regatta arrests
300,000 people attended the rowing event
Police say their operation at this year's Henley Royal Regatta went smoothly with only a handful of arrests.
The rowing event attracted over 300,000 visitors across six days of races.
Working with partners including Henley Royal Regatta, local licensed premises and the Environment Agency, Thames Valley Police say they delivered a successful policing and security operation as part of the event allowing visitors to enjoy the regatta safely.
Superintendent Colin Hudson, Tactical Commander for the policing operation, said:
“We have had another busy week policing Henley Royal Regatta. The work of our officers, partners and event organisers ensured a safe and enjoyable event for those who attended.
“Our Neighbourhood Policing Team engaged with visitors in the Town Centre and along the riverbank. Our Specialist Teams including Roads Policing, Drone, Mounted and Marine Units all helped to ensure the Regatta ran smoothly.
“Over the six days of the event, 16 arrests were made. These arrests represent a very small minority of those who attended the Regatta. I would like to thank the community and our partners for their co-operation during the event.”
Police did not say what the arrests were for.
