Basingstoke woman charged with arson following house fire

Police have charged a woman in connection with a house fire at an address in Basingstoke.

Officers were called at around half eight on Friday morning to reports of a fire at a property on Fountains Close.

It was also reported that a woman had been assaulted and had suffered a minor injury. Police arrested a woman at the scene of the incident.

32 year old Jemma Deann Paterson, of Fountains Close, has now been charged with arson and two assault charges.

She appeared at Southampton Magistrates Court yesterday and has been remanded into custody to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday 7 August.
