Cyclist from Andover dies after road collision

Police appeal for any information to help their investigation

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following a fatal road traffic collision in Andover.

The incident occurred just after 10am on Friday (23 July) on the B3400 from Andover to Hurstbourne Priors and involved a silver Vauxhall Vectra and a cyclist.

The cyclist, a 70-year-old man from Andover, was taken to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance but died of his injuries there yesterday (28 July). His next of kin have been informed.

The car driver, an 81-year-old man from Whitchurch, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been released under police investigation.

A Police spokesperson said:

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time or may have seen what had happened. Likewise, they urge any motorists who may have dash-cam footage which either captured the incident or the moments that led to the collision to contact us.

"Any information you may have, no matter how insignificant you think it might be, could help aid our investigation.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 44210291458."
