Man dies after car crash in Reading

Critic care team were flown in by air ambulance

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Reading.

The incident occurred at around 1.15pm yesterday (31/8).

A black Mitsubishi Shogun Warrior collided with a grass bank on Oxford Road between Overdown Road and Knowsley Road towards Purley.

The driver of the car, a man in his fifties sadly died, and his family are being supported by specially trained officers.

A critical care team from Thames Valley Air Ambulance flew to the scene with the helicopter landing in the grounds of the nearby Brookfields School.

Unconfirmed reports say the driver may have suffered a medical emergency before the crash.

Investigating officer, PC Ryan Webb, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said:

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to please get in touch.

“We’d also ask any motorists with dash-cams and who were in the vicinity around the time of the incident to please check any footage in case it may have captured something that could help the investigation.
