Police say people are likely to see an increased police presence in parts of Berkshire as work to ensure security ahead of several major events this week and the week after.

Thames Valley Police will be responsible for ensuring the security for Her Majesty the Queen’s official birthday on Saturday, the visit to Windsor of the President of the United States on Sunday, and Royal Ascot.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said:

"Our firearms officers have been out on patrol in Windsor, and specialist searches have been taking place at Ascot Racecourse.

"This work is all part of the security measures we have in place to keep our residents, and visitors to the Thames Valley safe.

"If you see us, please come and say hello."
