A plan to create a new studio at Hungerford Leisure Centre is underway.

The proposed new building would provide a space for activities such as dance, aerobics, GP referral exercise, yoga and ballet.

If given the go ahead, the 77 square metre studio will boast a semi sprung floor, energy efficient LED lighting and heat recovering system. Energy efficiency is a key factor within the design.

Howard Woollaston, West Berkshire’s Executive Member for internal Governance, Culture and Leisure said:

“The new studio would provide a great boost to the leisure centre as there is currently no space from which to provide a studio programme during the day.

“We’re keen to invest in the health and wellbeing of our residents and to provide access to as many leisure options and facilities as possible.”

A decision on the Planning Application is expected this week.

Subject to approval, the new studio would open in summer 2022.
