E-Scooter robberies linked in Basingstoke
Police issue descriptions of two suspects after spate of similar incidents
Police are appealing for witnesses after e-scooters have been targeted in a number of Basingstoke robberies.
It comes after a 30-year-old woman was riding her e-scooter in the Eastrop Park area, between 4.15pm and 4.30pm on Monday 8 February, when she was approached by two boys.
Police say the suspects tried to forcibly take her scooter but were unsuccessful.
Investigating officers have now linked this incident to three others in Basingstoke over the past couple of days.
Linked incidents
- At around 8pm on Tuesday 9 February, a 13-year-old boy was the victim of a robbery when three boys took his e-scooter on Cranbourne Lane.
- At around 6.30pm on Tuesday 9 February, at The Viables Centre on Harrow Way, another 13-year-old boy was victim of a robbery when his e-scooter was stolen.
- Between 5.30pm and 5.50pm on Sunday 7 February, a 14-year-old boy was near the Poundland on Festival Place when an unknown man assaulted him and took his e-scooter.
Suspects
- A white man, aged between 17 and 20-years-old. He was wearing a blue surgical mask, a black North Face jacket, black jogging bottoms, and riding a black mountain bike.
- A white man, aged between 17 and 20-years old. He was wearing an orange hat, a navy blue winter coat with dark jogging bottoms, and riding an orange mountain bike with ‘specialised’ written in black on the frame.
