A focused policing operation across East Berkshire has resulted in 227 charges for shoplifting and related offences between 1st May and 14th November 2025.

The Thames Valley Police initiative spans Slough, Windsor, Maidenhead, and Bracknell, targeting repeat offenders and strengthening ties with local retailers. The operation has led to arrest warrants and additional charges, including robbery, dangerous driving, possession of an offensive weapon, breach of a serious violence reduction order, driving offences, and criminal damage.

Neighbourhood officers have worked closely with individual stores, tailoring crime-prevention approaches to suit each location.

Retailers have also been encouraged to join DISC, a secure platform designed for sharing information, which helps identify reoffenders and enhances community safety.

The operation has involved collaborative work with licensing teams to educate stores on regulations, equipping them to deter and document criminal behaviour effectively.

In recent months, efforts have expanded to include the Safer Towns team, focusing on making town centres safer and tackling persistent shoplifting incidents.
