Arrest in west Berkshire village after cyclist seriously injured

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury collision in west Berkshire.

At 6.25pm on Sunday (9/7) a collision happened on the B4009 at the junction of Wyld Court Hill and Yattendon Road in Hampstead Norreys north of Thatcham.

The collision involved a silver Audi A3 and a cyclist.

The cyclist a man in his seventies was injured and he remains in hospital in a serious condition.

A 39-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving, drink driving and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He remains in custody at this time.

Investigating officer PC Jamie Payne of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said:

“We are investigating this collision in which a man has been seriously injured and one man has been arrested.

“We are asking anyone with information or dash-cam footage of the incident to please come forward.
