Teenage cyclist hospitalised after hit and run in Reading

A teenage cyclist has suffered serious injuries to his face following a hit and run in Reading.

The boy was hit by a car on Saturday night (23 March) sometime between 9:30pm and 10pm as he was cycling along Oxford Road between the junctions of Valentia Road and Beresford Road.

He was involved in a collision with a car and sustained serious injuries to his face and the driver of the car did not stop.

The boy was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, where he remains at this time.

Investigating officer PC Martin Danks, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to this collision to please come forward.

“Also, if you were driving in the area around the time of the collision and have a dash-cam, or if you live nearby and have a CCTV camera or a video doorbell, I’d also ask that you check any recordings in case it has captured something that could assist us and get in touch if you have.
