Residents, businesses and commuters are invited to have their say on a proposed improved cycle route that will connect the new Manydown development with Basingstoke town centre via Winklebury.

Hampshire County Council has opened a five-week online survey, closing on Sunday 20 March 2022:

Councillor Rob Humby, Hampshire County Council’s Deputy Leader and Executive Lead Member for Economy, Transport and Environment, said:

“The proposals are for a high quality exemplar cycle facility that we feel has potential to offer an attractive, clean and healthy alternative to travel in Basingstoke. It is designed to meet the needs of residents now but also future residents of the Manydown North development as it builds out. I would encourage anyone who lives, works or commutes to or from this area of Basingstoke to tell us what they think of the proposals.”

The proposals include:

A new segregated cycle track from Roman Road to the A340 bridge via Winklebury Way;

A replacement footbridge over the A340 with a new bridge being suitable for both walking and cycling;

Upgrading and enhancing existing routes by clearing vegetation, widening the current cycle track and installing better street lighting between the A340 Bridge and Victory Roundabout in Basingstoke town centre.
